The Minister of Development and Social Inclusion, Julio Demartiniappointed Cecilia Barbieri as the new executive director of the national school feeding program Qali Warma. The measure was made official this Friday in the Official Gazette El Peruano, through Ministerial Resolution No. D000183 -2024-MIDIS.
The appointment bears the signature of Minister Demartini.
The appointment comes one day after Pedro Ripalda resigned from the direction of the Qali Warma program, after it was revealed that horse meat and preserved food in poor condition were distributed in schools.
Who is Cecilia Barbieri?
Barbieri is a lawyer. He has worked in various sectors of the Executive Branch since 2014. He started in the Ministry of the Interior, where he held the position of chief of staff of advisors between March 12 and June 30, 2014. In addition, in that portfolio he also served as consultant between July and August of that year.
On September 2, 2014, she was appointed as an advisor to the cabinet of advisors in the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, a position she held until March 31, 2015. In that portfolio she also served as secretary general of the National Council for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities, between April 2, 2015 to October 7, 2016.
Later, on October 17 of that year, she was hired at the Ministry of Defense, in the position of advisor to the ministerial office. She served in that position until January 12, 2018. On January 19, she was appointed general secretary of Mindef, until November 19, 2020.
In December of that year she was appointed as executive management advisor of the National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (Devida).
Likewise, she was Vice Minister of Women between September 2020 and December 2022, as well as Vice Minister in charge of Vulnerable Populations in September of that year.
On December 20, 2022, she was appointed general secretary of the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion, a position she held until being appointed head of the Qali Warma program.
