Two Colombian citizens, Manuela Bedoya and Luna Barretowere arrested by Israeli forces on September 30 while participating in a humanitarian mission to the Gaza Strip. The young women were part of the Global Sumud Flotillaan international movement that sought to carry medical help, food and essential supplies to the Palestinian population affected by the conflict.

The ship in which they were traveling, identified as HIOhe was intercepted by the Israeli Navy when he was sailing in international watersmore than 150 nautical miles from the coast of Gaza. According to participating organizations, the flotilla had strictly ends peaceful and humanitarianand the arrest was executed abruptly by the Israel military forces, without clear legal justification.

From Colombia, both human rights organizations and Foreign Ministry They have condemned what happened, qualifying it as a Violation of International Law. In an official statement, the Foreign Ministry demanded the Immediate release of the nationals and expressed his deep concern for the security and well -being of both.

The Colombian government also pointed out that this act could constitute a kidnappingsince it occurred outside Israeli territorial waters and without a transparent legal process. Likewise, the authorities of that country were requested to allow the access of consular representatives to verify the conditions under which Manuela and Luna are located.

The case has generated ample rejection in social networks and international media, where the legality of Israeli actions is questioned and respect for humanitarian work is requested. Several activists who participated in the flotilla have denounced intimidating treatment and obstruction to the right to help vulnerable populations.
So far, it has not been confirmed whether Colombians were transferred to Israeli territory or if they remain detained in a military boat. Colombian authorities continue to perform urgent diplomatic efforts to achieve their prompt release and clarify the conditions under which their arrest occurred.
