Ciriumthe aviation analysis company, released its report this Thursday “2024 On-Time Performance Review“, which identifies the airlines and the airports that stood out in punctuality and operational performance last year.
In the edition 16 of this report, the Mexican airline, Aeromexicowas considered the most punctual “Global Airline”, achieving a score of 86.70 percent.
Saudia Airlines obtained second place in this category with 86.35%, while Delta Air Lines It ranked third with 83.46 percent.
According to the report, for a flight to be defined as punctual, it must arrive within 14:59 minutes of the scheduled arrival time at the boarding gate. Airports measure punctuality as flights departing within 14:59 minutes of their scheduled departure time.
Operational excellence
To recognize the operational excellence of airlines, the Cirium report considers five regional awards.
In the case of the most punctual airline in Europe and the most punctual low-cost airline in the world, the award went to Iberia Expressa member of the International Airlines Group.
WhileJapan Airlines ranked first in Asia Pacific, slightly ahead of All Nippon Airways.
In the case of North America, the recognition went to Delta Air Lines. And, in Latin America, Copa Airlines was recognized for the tenth time.
While Safair achieved recognition as the most punctual airline in the Middle East and Africa.
Most punctual airports in 2024
In the airport categories, the Riyadh King Khalid International Airportgateway to the capital of Saudi Arabia, obtained the title of More punctual “Global Airport”with 86.65% of flights leaving on time.
The Middle East hub has also been honored with victory in the “Large Airport” category, beating major competitors from around the world.
The title of More punctual “medium airport” was granted to Tocumen International Airportin Panama, base of operations of the Latin American winner Copa Airlines.
While the winner in the “Small Airport” category was the José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport in Guayaquil, in Ecuador.
Delta Air Lines topped the ranking for the fourth consecutive year in 2024, obtaining the Cirium Platinum Award for global operational excellence.

The airline was recognized for its punctuality throughout 2024, with 83.46%, on more than 1,712,529 total flights in 2024.
Meanwhile, the Bogotá El Dorado International AirportColombia, received the first annual Platinum Award for a global airport.
The Platinum Award for Airports takes into account a wide range of factors, such as the impact of delays on passengers, the duration of disruptions, operational complexity and airport attractiveness, with a focus on growth. This holistic approach highlights multi-faceted excellence and sets a new benchmark in assessing airport performance.
