Fuerza Popular spokesman Miki Torres said that both Ollanta Humala and Pedro Pablo Kuczynski called the party leader to offer their condolences.
“Both of them have conveyed their condolences, their sorrow, that regardless of the differences and the distance, they accompanied the family in their pain”he said in an interview with Milagros Leiva.

The death of the former president Alberto Fujimoriat 86 years old, has generated a wave of reactions in the political sphere. Despite his controversial career, several former presidents, some of them historically in opposition, have expressed their condolences and reflections on his legacy.

Fujimori died on Wednesday after suffering from cancer for years. Personalities close to Fujimori, such as former congressmen, visited Keiko Fujimori’s home. Former Peruvian heads of state also expressed their condolences for the death of the man who governed Peru from 1990 to 2000.
Francisco Sagasti
The former president Francisco Sagastiwho assumed the presidency in 2020 by constitutional succession after the resignation of Manuel Merino, spoke out through his official X account. Sagasti has not been close to Fujimori. However, Sagasti was one of the hostages when the terrorist group MRTA took over the residence of the Japanese ambassador.
“I express my condolences to the family of former President Alberto Fujimori Fujimori on his death. May he rest in peace,” the former president said.

Martin Vizcarra
The former president Martin Vizcarrawho governed Peru between 2018 and 2020, spoke out through his X account. As we recall, during his government, Vizcarra and Congress, led by a Fujimorist majority, were embroiled in a constant political crisis that culminated in the dissolution of Parliament in 2019.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and supporters of former President Alberto Fujimori,” the former president said.
Pedro Pablo Kuczynski
The former president Pedro Pablo Kuczynskiwho granted humanitarian pardon to Alberto Fujimori in 2017, expressed his condolences and assured that time has proved him right. He said he does not know if he will attend the wake because he was in the clinic a few days ago.
“He was in a very bad state. Unfortunately, his death today has proved me right. It would be much better if he were alive and I were wrong. (…) His legacies are several: ending insecurity and fundamental economic change in the country. If we take stock, Fujimori has been a great president of Peru and I regret that he died at the same age as me,” he said in an interview.
They are not pronounced
So far, former presidents Alejandro Toledo has not spoken out on the death of former President Alberto Fujimori.
As we recall, Toledo, who is currently incarcerated in the Diroes prison, competed against Fujimori in the 2000 elections, from which he resigned after reporting irregularities.
