Hernández Lárez has held various positions inside and outside the National Armed Forces (FAN): President of the Supervisory Board of the Venezuelan Food Corporation, SA (CVAL) in 2016; President of Corpo PDV-Mercal; He also directed the Venezuelan Food Company La Casa (Venalcasa), attached to the Ministry of Food. He was serving as president of the Red de Abastos Bicentenarios for 2014.

REDI Central

In this case, Nicolás Maduro appointed the Major General Orlando Ramon Romero Bolivar. The soldier was ranked 19th in the 1993 Army promotion. In 2021, the officer, then commander of the 31st Mechanized Infantry Brigade Gen. Brig. Lucas Carvajal, was the first of the general to reach Division.

Until now, the military was the head of the ZODI Capital. In his time as a colonel he was deputy director of the Army Military Academy. The REDI Central covers the states of Aragua, Carabobo and Yaracuy.

REDI Guyana

It has jurisdiction over the states of Bolívar, Amazonas and Delta Amacuro and the command fell on the Major General Rafael David Prieto Martinez. The soldier comes from exercising command in the ZODI Lara (since 2021). He was commander of the 14th Mechanized Infantry Brigade.

Western REDI

Here the military chief will be the Admiral Alejandro Rafael Díaz Espinoza. This military region exercises jurisdiction over the states of Zulia, Lara and Falcón.

REDI The Plains

The responsibility of this military region was assigned by Maduro to the Major General Lenin Lorenzo Ramírez Villasmil (Aviation). This region covers the states of Apure, Barinas, Cojedes, Portuguesa and Guárico.

This officer comes from heading the Operational Readiness Directorate of the air component. In 2021, the military commanded the El Libertador Air Base (BAEL) based in Palo Negro, Aragua state.

Likewise, in 2017, Ramírez Villasmil, then with the rank of colonel, commanded the Air Fighter Group Number 16.

Eastern REDI

Maduro gave command to Major General Juan Ernesto Sulbarán Quintero (GN). This region covers the states of Anzoátegui, Monagas and Sucre. Until now, this officer worked as Director of the Services for the maintenance of Internal Order of the GN.

In October 2022, Maduro designated the officer as the Single Authority of The Tejerías, in Aragua state. The soldier belongs to the “Batalla De Mosquitero” Promotion that graduated from Efofac in 1993, in which he held the position of 145 graduates.

Maritime and Island REDI

This region, based in Nueva Esparta, will be led by Admiral Ashraf Abdel Hadis Suleiman Gutiérrez, who comes from commanding the ZODI La Guaira. The officer was commander of the First Marine Brigade “Manuel Ponte Rodríguez” in Puerto Cabello, Carabobo state.

REDI The Andes

It was ratified on Major General Manuel Enrique Castillo Rengifo and includes the states of Mérida, Táchira and Trujillo. He was head of ZODI Zulia. The soldier obtained the rank of Division General in 2020. In 2019 he was given the command of the Ministry of Defense Headquarters.

According to the “constitutional” Law of the National Armed Forces, approved by the constituent in January 2020, “the Integral Defense Strategic Region is a territorial grouping of forces and means in a space of the national territory with geostrategic characteristics, established by the President o President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Commander-in-Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, based on the national defensive strategic conception”.
