Which municipalities are suspending classes?
The Ministry of Education of Tamaulipas ( SET ) reported that the municipalities of Matamoros, San Fernando and Valle Hermoso will suspend school activities during the afternoon shift on Monday, September 9, and both shifts on Tuesday, September 10.
Lucía Aimé Castillo Pastor, head of the SET, said that it is a necessary measure based on the information issued by the State Coordination of Civil Protection of Tamaulipas to protect themselves.
He indicated that school administrators must take preventive actions regarding cleaning and draining any obstacles, safeguarding stationery and official documents, disconnecting and caring for electronic devices, among other recommendations.

Tropical Storm Francine
According to the National Weather Service report as of September 9 at 3:45 p.m., Tropical Storm Francine was located 180 kilometers (km) east of La Pesca, Tamaulipas, and 245 km south-southeast of the mouth of the Rio Grande, on the border between Mexico and the United States of America, with maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour (km/h), gusts of 120 km/h and moving north-northwest at 11 km/h.
The phenomenon will cause torrential rains in Tamaulipas and Veracruz; intense rains in eastern Chiapas, Guerrero, Nuevo Leon, Oaxaca and Puebla; very heavy rains in Hidalgo, San Luis Potosi and Tabasco; heavy rains in Campeche, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Morelos, Quintana Roo, Tlaxcala and Yucatan.
Tamaulipas Civil Protection is closely monitoring the development of the storm, according to its state coordinator, Luis Gerardo Gonzalez and called on the population to take shelter, stay away from trees, antennas, billboards and poles, and take special care when preparing and preserving food and water.
