The humanitarian parole of the United States allowed the reunification of the family of Yader Morazán, a former official of the Judiciary and an expert in the administration of justice in political exile in the North American country.
Morazán left Nicaragua on August 21, 2018 with her six-year-old son in her arms. His wife stayed in Managua and she spent four and a half years without seeing her family.
The former judicial official explained that it is not easy to live with the pressure of a son who every day asked him “Dad, when will I see my mother again?” That is a question that Morazán was able to answer to his son after the approval of the humanitarian parole. This Friday, February 3, they met again.

The lawyer left Nicaragua when they began to selectively capture opponents, days after they had forced him to resign from his job in the Judiciary.
“I knew that he was exposed outside the State, because at that time it was difficult for the same State worker to be harmed, since they did not want martyrs or sell the idea that there were dissidents within the State,” he said.
“I had been illegally “transferred” to a municipality (San Ramón), in charge of a judge who was a paramilitary and who had shot against the population in Matagalpa, named Otoniel Aráuz,” he added.
The reunion trip
Morazán was the sponsor of his wife, he went through the humanitarian parole process and in seven days everything was approved for her to fly to the United States and be reunited with her husband and son.
The little boy, now 10 years old, met her at the Indianapolis airport and melted into a hug with his mother. “The process was quick and easy, and once we had all the documents, it took about a week,” he said.
The expert in administration of justice explained to Article 66 that his wife traveled from Nicaragua on Thursday and left the country with her identity card in hand to prevent the immigration authorities of the Ortega regime from withholding her passport.
“She had to leave through Honduras, so as not to run the risk of having her passport taken away at the airport. She never appeared as my wife, she was in a low profile, and we were not even friends on our social networks, “she assured.
Morazán considered that the humanitarian parole benefits many families, including him, but says that “it does not solve the problem of people fleeing repressive governments. Because firstly, the exit and documents you need to travel are in the hands of the regime and secondly, you limit the human right to take refuge in another country through asylum.
More than 800 nicas benefited
Some 800 Nicaraguans were benefited by the United States in the first 15 days under the new humanitarian parole immigration program, this will allow the regular entry by air of 30,000 citizens of Nicaragua, Cuba and Haiti. The data was obtained by the CNN news network and disclosed on its website.
The program was announced by the administration of President Joe Biden on January 5. The objective is to reduce irregular crossings on the southern border of that country. According to CNN“data indicates that migrants are using the program to migrate to the US rather than illegally cross the border into Mexico.”
This process allows the beneficiaries to stay for up to two years in North American territory, but the person who is outside the United States cannot request it, but must have a sponsor. The latter must also contribute and cooperate with a series of conditions to be accepted into the immigration program.
