Wheelchair tennis was one of the Brazilian highlights this Wednesday (5) at the Parapan-American Youth Games, which are being held in Santiago (Chile), with the victory of three golds and one silver. In wheelchair tennis, one of the gold medals came from Vitória Miranda, from Minas Gerais, who won her second title in the women’s competition after beating Colombian Paula Meza in the final by 2 sets to 1 (partial scores of 3/6, 6/3, 6/0). “I started the game tense, too anxious to finish the point. In the second set I opened 5/1, made a mistake and managed to close 6/3. Then in the third set I started more relaxed, managed to play my game and closed 6/0”, said the Brazilian.

In the men’s competition, Brazil secured a double, with Luiz Calixto defeating Lucas Dutra in the final by a score of 2 sets to 0 (6/0, 6/1) to take the gold.

The third Brazilian gold medal in wheelchair tennis was won in the mixed doubles, with Luiz Calixto and Vitória Miranda beating Colombians Paula Meza and Martínez Sanchez by 2 sets to 0 (6/1, 6/1) in the final.

With all the medals added this Wednesday, Brazil remains at the top of the overall medal table, with a total of 51 podiums (29 gold, 15 silver and seven bronze).
