MADRID, Spain.- The WhatsApp messaging application, owned by the American multinational Meta, announced on Monday a new functionality that was being highly demanded by users: text messages can now be edited after they have been sent.
If you make spelling mistakes, change your mind about what you have written, or want to add text to a message, all you have to do is press and hold the sent message and choose “Edit” from the menu, WhatsApp explained from its website.
The note highlights that you will have 15 minutes to make the changes. After this time it will no longer be possible.
According to the information, the changes will show the status “edited”, so the recipients will know that a correction has been made to the message, although they will not be able to see the history of changes.
As with all personal messages, media files, and calls, any changes you make will be protected by end-to-end encryption.
This new functionality, on which the company had been working for some time, has already begun to be implemented worldwide and will be available to all users in the coming weeks.
In the last months WhatsApp has canceled Cuban user accounts for using pirated versions of it on the island.
As the instant messaging application explains on its platform, “unofficial applications are modified versions of WhatsApp, which means that they were developed by third parties and do not comply with our terms of service”, therefore, as a security policy, WhatsApp cancels accounts using unofficial versions of the app.
People whose account has been closed for this reason, to recover it, must contact WhatsApp support through the application and explain what is happening. When Support has reviewed the request, it contacts the user via email.
After receiving a response from WhatsApp Support, they may ask the user to verify their account through some code or by providing some other form of identification. In this way, WhatsApp Support ensures that the user carrying out the process is the legitimate owner of the account.
Once the account has been verified, WhatsApp Support will reactivate it. The user will then be able to log in and continue using the app.
