What vaccines are going to be applied and why?
The second booster dose can be applied with mRNA technology platforms, such as Pfizer and Moderna. However, in the case of Moderna, the equivalent of half a dose will be applied in order to comply with the entire scientific immunization project that the health authorities have outlined.
For whom is the fourth dose indicated so far and how is the application time?
For now, the app is enabled for people over 50 years of age who have applied the booster dose 4 months in advance and for all those with autoimmune diseases or who have had organ transplants, for them the booster can be given 30 days after the third dose is received.
What is known about the second booster?
According to researchers in Israel, patients who received a fourth dose of Pfizer were 30% less likely to become infected than those who received three doses. With Moderna, the percentage was 18%. The research, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, evaluated 270 healthcare workers at Tel Aviv’s Sheba Medical Center.
