- The Colombians will vote to elect the new members of the Senate and the Chamber of Representatives, as well as the 16 peace seats, intended for victims of the armed conflict.
- They will also choose the presidential candidates of three coalitions of center, left and right.
- According to the Invamer survey, Sergio Fajardo (Hope Center), Gustavo Petro (Historical Covenant) and Federico Gutierrez (Team for Colombia) are emerging as the main favorites to be chosen in each of their coalitions.
- For these elections, 38.8 million Colombians are called to vote.
- The National Registry, in charge of organizing the elections, has installed 12,262 posts and 110,758 polling stations. voting in Colombiaalong with another 250 posts and 1,251 polling stations abroad.
- The army deployed 73,000 troops to guarantee security, which will be coordinated with the Police, the National Registry, the Attorney General’s Office, the Ombudsman’s Office, mayors and governors, in the country.
- The elections take place amid an increase in the violence and clashes between FARC dissident groups and the guerrilla of the National Liberation Army (ELN)
