“What you see does not ask”. In this way, the former candidate for mayor for the Autonomous Community (in alliance with the Citizen Community), José Gary Áñez, hinted at his discomfort at the cracking inside the orange bench in the Council municipality of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
Surrounded by the councilors of the Autonomous Community, Áñez expressed his disagreement with the election of Councilor Lola Terrazas (CA) as Vice President of the Municipal Council, after her name was proposed by the president of the Legislative, Israel Alcócer (UCS). Áñez recalled that the appointment of Terrazas did not have the approval of the councilors of his group, who are the majority in the legislature.
Although Lola Terrazas continues to be part of the orange bench, she did not accompany Gary Áñez at the press conference on Monday. Áñez said that the only commitment you have is with the people and that there was dishonesty on the part of Terrazas to the people who voted for them.
“Inexplicably, instead of respecting the people and their will, there was acceptance on the part of a councilor breaking the commitment with the people. She must respond to the population and not to a political apparatus. Democracy is broken in the Council and its institutional framework has been broken,” she said.
In this sense, the former mayoral candidate argued that there is concern not only about Israel Alcócer’s proposal, which was considered valid, but also for not considering that the councilors of the Autonomous Community are the majority in the municipal Legislative.
Gary Áñez also said that he sees with concern the harmony between ucesistas and masistas within the Council. “We firmly believe that the great Santa Cruz’s problem does not revolve around a position or a political agreement, but in the partnership between Jhonny and masismo. That has to worry,” said the former candidate.
Añez reiterated that the only agreement she has is with the people and that there is no other agreement like the one generated during election times. “We do not break agreements. The commitment of the people was dishonored“, he stressed.
In addition, he argued that has no contact with Carlos Mesaleader of the Citizen Community, “for a long time” and made a review of how they wanted to wage “war” on him at election time.
