The director of Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA) announced the preparation of a National Plan for the Promotion of Dominican Beekeepingwhich contemplates an investment of 100 million pesos to support with financing and training 250 beekeepersand the construction of rooms for the extraction of honey from 20 associations.
Hecmilio Galvan made the announcement by leading the act of the first palace for the construction of a room for the extraction, processing and packaging of bee honey at the Salvador Ferrer Beekeeping Cooperativelocated in the Paraje de Zamba, municipality of San Ignacio de Sabaneta, Santiago Rodríguez.
The official reported that technicians from the FEDA prepare the design of the National Plan for the Promotion of Beekeeping for the benefit of associations that group together beekeepers from the country.
He said that the FEDAin support of the General Directorate of Livestock (Digega), will prepare the beekeepers for the export of honey so that it can be displayed on the shelves of national and international supermarkets, with individual and collective brands, and with technical support to improve the health, safety and branding of its products.
