What were the five foods that increased in price the most in November

A monthly survey carried out by the Consumer Defense Unit of the Ministry of Economy verified what were the five foods that became more expensive during november. The data was collected by the Consumer Price Information System (SIPC).

For the November report there were 623 commercial establishments (supermarkets, supermarkets and pharmacies) who provided information on the daily retail prices of 205 food, beverage, household cleaning, personal care, and fruit and vegetable products.

The food that had the highest increase was the butter lettuce (per unit) that had a price of $30.67 in October and went to $35.19 in November, with a rise of 14.7%. In addition, crisp lettuce also increased 11.1%, from $28.54 to $31.71.

In third place was the kilo of loose sausages of a brand. It went from $482 in October to $531.46 in November with an increase of 10.5%.

In fourth place was the kilo of red delicious apple. In October, the price varied from $64 to $70, with growth of 9.4%.

Then there was a pack of eight short frankfurters of a brand. The monthly variation was 7.8%, going from $166.44 to $179.50.

In the opposite direction, a product group consisting of 79 items had price reductions. The average decrease was 2.65 and the maximum decrease was 34.16%, which was verified in the kilo of American tomato. The second reduction was observed in a can of canned peas of a brand with a drop of 11.79%.

Finally, a group of 18 products kept their price unchanged.

Regarding the geographical location, the report indicated that the product with the greatest price reduction was the American tomato and registered its minimum price in a Canelones establishment.
