What were the best-selling heating items during the polar cold snap?

One option to face the wave of polar cold predicted by the Uruguayan Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) is heating items for the home. From the announcements made by meteorologists, these products maintain a peak of sales.

According to what they said from Mercado Libre, since the weekend – when low temperatures were already expected -, there is a growth in sales of articles to heat closed spaces. In fact, between Saturday May 28 and Monday May 30, 120% more were sold, compared to an average of the same days in the previous four weeks. From the ecommerce company they highlighted that the absolute sales peak was recorded on Monday.

In Carlos Gutierrez the situation was similar to what happened in Mercado Libre. Although since the forecasts of the polar wave they began to receive inquiries —and even managed to sell products—, it was not until the cold was felt on Monday that a greater number of sales was noticed.

The most demanded products

In Mercado Libre, the most demanded products were 12,000 BTU inverter air conditioning, gas, halogen, and bioethanol stoves and fan heater.

Carlos Gutierrez has its maximum score with the air conditioners; pump heating. From the appliance store they explained to Coffee & Business that work with two types of air conditioners. On the one hand, the traditional on/off: the equipment is turned on, it heats the space and it is turned off. When the room cools down, it turns back on. On the other hand, the inverter, which is a more efficient product in the task of heating because it never turns off. It turns on at a higher power than the on/off, heats up the spot, and then drops the revolution, but doesn’t turn off completely.

They are also selling stoves, both halogen and gas. However, due to a conflict in the port at this time they do not have a stock of electric stoves, although they hope they will arrive soon.

Prices

The price range of the best-selling products on the ecommerce site is from $835 to $22,990. The heater that most buyers chose was the electric one that works for both cold and heat from the Panavox brand, and the price is $835. As for cooktops, the best-selling halogen was the Microsonic three-tier swivel, priced at $1,450. Bioethanol burners start at around $2,700, and a 10kg can of the plant-based fuel — the best-selling product between these two — costs $950. A little higher in price is the Tem gas stove (with a 13 kg bottle), for $8,990. The most expensive appliance is the Greenwind 12,000 BTU Inverter Air Conditioner, which costs $22,990.

The prices of Carlos Gutiérrez are the following: $3,450 for the Bronx brand gas stove, $12,850 for the Panavox air conditioner with on/off system, and $29,990 for the inverter. As for halogen stoves, since they do not have stock, the cost has not yet been determined.
