What to do to enjoy the famous ‘reheated’? Here we tell you

Ariel Albaez | December 26, 2022

One of the famous traditions of Panamanians and in other parts of the world, is the traditional “reheated”, after the Christmas or New Year’s Eve dinner, since there are few who want to cook a dinner between drinks, after the rumba .

All leftover food, once the celebration is over, must be refrigerated at room temperature, including salads and fruits, to avoid damage.

According to some kitchen specialists, these leftovers when they are in the refrigerator should be consumed within a maximum of two hours, since after that period there is a risk of food poisoning, caused by the interference of contaminated food.

However, it is recommended that the food be reheated in an oven, stove or microwave to a temperature of 74°C.

Another option, if the food is larger, it can be frozen to make it last longer.

Also, in the case of roasted ham, turkey, chicken pavi or chicken, they can be cut into small pieces to make sandwiches or mixed with rice and include slices of ripe plantains to taste.

There are many options that we can use in case we have a little food left over and, instead of it becoming waste, enjoy some delicious reheated dishes.
