On the occasion of the first 60 days of management at the head of the IntrantBeras spoke to media directors and opinion leaders to whom he explained what he has done in that time and the actions and plans for the future.
He indicated that the dog track will enter a phase of closure, which began with the warning to owners to remove their vehicles, which was published in the media, and if you do not do so within the 90-day period established by Law 63-17, a public auction will be held for those vehicles that are not withdrawn by their owners.
“It could be this month or at the beginning of next that we will be making the formal announcement of the construction of this center that will have not only a better condition for receiving people, but also a fairly large parking space and other facilities. technological”, Beras said.
In addition, it includes a fuel station, a reception area, a waiting room, a cashier area, monitoring and security, a dining room, a driver’s lounge, a parking lot, a vehicle deposit, a junkyard, a workshop, among other facilities.
They will make a tender for a network of traffic lights
During the meeting, the official said that in the next 60 days a tender will be called to contract a network of traffic lights in Greater Santo Domingo to coordinate and synchronize road traffic in this demarcation and serve as a model to replicate in other cities.
He stated that it will have a control center to have a traffic management in a first stage. As part of the project, 600 intersections will be intervened in Greater Santo Domingo, in places where studies indicate a higher frequency of accidents that includes better signage, speed reducers.
In principle, it will start with 260 intersections, then the same amount and later 100 and for this purpose microsimulations have been carried out throughout that territory and the results will determine the road pairs, the exclusive lanes for runnersall through the use of technology.
Another project is technical inspection of vehicleswhich is now known as the magazine, to reduce traffic accidents because many of them are caused by poor tire and vehicle conditions and, in the case of the Dominican Republic, more than 70% of the vehicle fleet is over 18 years old.
He reported that in no more than five weeks a call for tenders will be made for this project and he hopes that at the beginning of 2024 the first vehicle technical inspection centers can be inaugurated and that by 2025 the entire country will have all the centers that are required.
New runners of buses
Beras also announced that another 10 runners will be put into operation to add 13 of the 18 contemplated in the general project, which will act as a comprehensive mobility system with a single rate of 35 pesos for the user and that the State will subsidize the passengers so that in addition to being a modern, quality and efficient integrated system, it is as cheap as possible for the user.
He reported that by November 30 of this year they will deliver the 10 licenses of the same number of runners so that in 2023 they will be operational.
