With the arrival of Christmas, several essential services undergo operational changes in the state of São Paulo. Health services, for example, operate normally. Bank branches, however, do not provide face-to-face service or make compensation. There are also changes to public transport.
See below what opens and closes:
Health
All state hospitals will maintain normal operation for urgent and emergency care, both emergency rooms and hospitalization sectors and surgical centers.
Specialty medical outpatient clinics (AMEs), Specialized Medicines Pharmacies (FME) units, Judicial and Administrative Action Dispensing Units (UD), Pharmaceutical Assistance Center (NAF) and Dose Certa Units (capital) will not operate on Thursday (25).
In the capital, the following will be open on both days: municipal hospitals and emergency rooms; Emergency Care units (UPAs); Psychosocial Care IV centers (Caps IV); outpatient medical care, with reduced hours; emergency medical care services (Samu); Poison Control Center; AMAS/UBS Integradas, from 7am to 7pm; Urgency and Emergency Regulatory Complex; and SPrEP teleservice channel.
The health services that will be closed on the 25th are Integrated Continuous Care (CCI) equipment; Women’s Examination centers; Dental Care centers; and Day Hospitals.
On Wednesday (24), the Pró-Sangue Foundation in Dante and Barueri will be closed. The Clinics units in Osasco and Mandaqui will be open from 8am to 1pm. On Thursday (25), all stations will remain closed.
Metropolitan transport
The operations of Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) and Metrô will be different at Christmas. On the 24th, the operation normally takes place according to working day schedules. On the 25th, the usual operation on Sundays and holidays will be carried out. The subway will have its fleet reduced on Thursday.
Banks
The Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban) informed that on the 25th there will be no banking hours and financial institutions will not have face-to-face service.
Bank compensations cannot be carried out on that date, which includes TED. The PIX will work normally for 24 hours. On December 24th (Wednesday), banks will have reduced opening hours, only from 9am to 11am.
Poupatempo
Poupatempo units operate differently on holidays. On Wednesday (24), service runs until 12pm. On Thursday (25), the units will be closed.
In-person service takes place by prior and free appointment, which can be done through Poupatempo’s digital channels.
Sabesp
On December 24th, the Poupatempo, Agiliza São Sebastião, Guarulhos, Vila Galvão and other in-person stores by appointment will be open until 12pm. On December 25th, all stores will be closed.
The Sabesp Telephone Service Center operates 24 hours a day, but only for automated service. It is necessary to call from 8am to 9pm to speak with the attendants.
Farm
The tax offices of the State Department of Finance and Planning do not operate on the 24th and 25th. Sefaz-SP’s electronic services can be used at any time.
