What jobs should be like in Colombia, according to the ILO

Regarding Law 2101 of 2021, which establishes the progressive reduction of the working day, they ask the Government for the progress achieved in this matter. The normative provides for a maximum duration of 42 hours maximum of the working day per week.

Given this, there is no longer a daily limit on working hours. A situation that for the unions is “dangerous and disadvantageous” and that the ILO supports by asking the Government to a specific daily limit of normal working hours is set.

Along with this, it emphasizes the importance of implementing flexible working time modalitiesthe existence of limits to the maximum duration of daily and weekly working hours is guaranteed so that the well-being of employees is not harmed.

The ILO also recommends taking the necessary measures to guarantee the granting of compensatory rest to all workers who work on their weekly day of rest.

Also, that there are guarantees so that all workers enjoy a vacation period annual paid after a continuous year of services, according to what is established by Colombian law.

Finally, they request that a regulation be issued that gives the worker the right to move away from a dangerous situation when they have reason to believe that there is an imminent risk to their safety and health.
