Santo Domingo.- The National Emergency and Security Assistance System 9-1-1 reported that six employees were transferred to health centers to receive preventive care for smoke inhalation, after a fire outbreak recorded early this Tuesday at its headquarters in the Metropolitan Area.
The incident was detected thanks to an automatic alert from the fire system in the dispatch area.
Immediately, safety protocols were activated, which included the total evacuation of the building and the timely intervention of the Fire Department, who managed to put out the flames in a short time.
Regarding those affected and the infrastructure, the System reported the following, that they are out of danger, they are stable and under preventive observation.
They also reported that no significant material losses were reported. The damage is limited to the office room, where the event is presumed to have originated.
They said that the situation has been completely controlled and does not represent a risk to the rest of the staff or the physical plant.
While the executive director of 9-1-1, General Randolfo Rijo, reported that emergency reception and dispatch operations were immediately transferred to the Santiago headquarters.
Although the metropolitan headquarters operationally covers from Baní to Punta Cana, the contingency plan has allowed the Northern region to assume the national flow of calls. Currently, 9-1-1 coordinates with the telephone companies to stabilize the total diversion of calls to the Santiago headquarters.
They affirmed that the institution reiterates its commitment to the safety of its human team and the continuity of this vital service for citizens, ensuring that it will continue to report on the progress of the technical evaluations.
