In Colombia, the pension system allows retired workers receive a monthly amount after having fulfilled their respective work obligations. In this scenario, the allowance 14 was valid again despite its suspension in 2025. What is it and who receives this annual payment?
Allowance 14: when it is charged and to whom it is paid
Allowance 14 is a first that corresponds to all retirees who are in the Average Premium Regime (RPM)which is currently managed by Colpensions. This amount will be transferred to their respective beneficiaries in the middle of each year, that is, in June.
Meanwhile, it is granted as a benefit to those pensioners with lower incomes. Likewise, only pensioners who receive a monthly allowance equal to or less than a minimum wage and who retired before July 31, 2011 are eligible.
Every year, Colpensiones pays this allowance in the month of June, and its amount is equivalent to an ordinary allowance, that is, they are paid an additional amount equal to what they receive monthly.. This benefit was introduced as additional financial support for those who meet the requirements and retired before the pension reform established by Law 1328 of 2009.
