What is sought with Public Innovation in the DR

Santo Domingo. – The Administrative Minister of the Presidency, Jose Ignacio Beatingexplained this Wednesday the objectives of the first International Forum on Public Innovation that was developed under the motto “Present and future of public services in the Dominican Republic.”

He said that, with this and other initiatives such as the National Innovation Award, what is mainly sought is to impregnate a culture of change in public management and generate interest in society to question and think that it can be done differently than as it has been done over the years.

“They are spaces for growth, to rethink and dream about what the country lacks and how it is going to get there,” he stressed.

He pointed out some projects that are being developed in the country and that he assures have generated great social and economic changes in these two years, such as Zero Bureaucracy.

“With the Zero Bureaucracy project, what is sought is that we can have nearly two thousand processes carried out by the Public Administration on our phones and we can manage them, generating higher levels of transparency and eliminating time,” he said.

Of these processes, 130 are already online and are fully enabled so that citizens can access them.

He also revealed that this seeks to eliminate corruption that “has always existed in public service efforts where it was customary to abuse people’s time.”

Beating mentioned other initiatives such as giving free COVID insurance to each person who visits the Dominican Republic and the Dispatch within 24 hours of the General Directorate of Customs (DGA).

Their statements were issued at the Corripio Communications Group Luncheon, which was also attended by Carlos Moreno, researcher and associate professor of the “Entrepreneurship-Territory-Innovation” chair; Marc Vidal, Economic Analyst; Aura Cifuentes, leader of the Strategic Ecosystem in Ágata (Bogotá) and Peter Prazmowski, executive director of the National Competitiveness Council.

The activity took place in the Garden Tent room of the Embajador Hotel and was attended by more than 500 people from the public and private sectors who exchanged ideas about Public Innovation in the country.

More than 11 international panelists participated and was attended by President Luis Abinader and the Mayor of Santo Domingo, Carolina Mejía.
