What is known about what would be the first crypto issued by a bank

The Pactual BTG announced the launch of a stable cryptocurrency, what will it have parity with the dollar and that, according to the Brazilian company, It is the first digital currency in the world that has been issued by a bank.

The currency, called BTG Dol, will be available on the digital asset platform Mynt, owned by BTG Pactual, in which trading of bitcoin and 21 other cryptocurrencies is offered, including some stable listings.

The bank stated in a statement that it will be responsible for providing “the entire security framework for the asset, such as due diligence, anti-money laundering and compliance processes“.

The new cryptoactive will allow investors ‘dollarize’ part of his assets in an “easier” way, according to the director of Digital Assets of the bank, André Portilho, quoted in the note.

The BTG Pactual is the largest investment bank in Latin America, with assets that added 450,600 million reais (about 89,000 million dollars) at the end of 2022.
