The barrabrava and murderer Edwin “Coco” Parentini threatened the Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber, and the director of the National Rehabilitation Institute (INR), Luis Mendoza, with topics such as: I have friends who will soon be released, I know where you move, or I know you don’t drive armored.
That was the tone of the letters that Parentini had in his cell – written in his own handwriting on some school notebook pages – and which were seized. There is a criminal investigation into the case, and the prosecution is collecting testimonies.
The cell where the material was seized was one of the Module 25 of Santiago Vázquez (former Comcar)one of the places maximum security of the country. Authorities believe that Parentini’s chances of having cell phone access it is almost nil; that is to say, he has almost no possibility of communicating with the outside, outside of what was planned (he has two regulatory calls per week, from a prison telephone that is enabled, and a weekly visit of two hours).
The module where he is confined for various crimes, has signal inhibitors, so that telephones cannot be used. However, the devices were vandalized and they do not work correctly for some mobile companies.
Mendoza said this Thursday that the threat, in this case, “It’s a way of putting pressure on him to go back to another prison where he can get a cell phone more openly.” It means that it could be easier to get a phone and have a signal to make calls.
After the threats and with a criminal investigation underway, the authorities do not believe it is necessary to reinforce the security of the minister or that of Parentini, government sources told The Observer this Thursday. “The Ministry of the Interior has to order the measures it deems necessary,” the prosecutor investigating the threats, Fernando Romano, told the press. And he added: “The minister must be worried, although he was quite relaxed” during a “interview” as a “statement” that took him in his office on Mercedes street at the height of Julio Herrera and Obes in Montevideo.
Parentini will be transferred and declare tuesday for the cause.

Parentini, a brava brava from Peñarol, was sentenced to 28 years in prison for being the intellectual author of the death of Lucas Langhain, a fan of Nacional who was walking on October 8, in the middle of the celebrations for the championship that the tricolors had achieved in that December 2019. Gaby Esteban Costa appeared on a motorcycle with her partner on Presidente Berro street and shot towards the avenue where the fans used to walk. Costa committed this act in exchange for base paste offered by Parentini.
He has also been the protagonist of several criminal acts, inside and outside the prison. In the last year, he was investigated for being the intellectual author of the attempted murder of a Flamengo fan in the Copa Libertadores final and threatening a “storm” of crimes.
