Beyond his talent for acting and even writing, Reyes is also known for being the son of one of the most prestigious and beloved Cuban actresses on the scene: Alina Rodriguez.
Hugo Reyes was a promising presence in Cuban acting and that is why, despite the passing of time, Cubans still remember him through posts or comments on social media.
However, in recent years, Hugo Reyes has not been as detached from the screens as one might believe.
At the beginning of 2010, the Cubavisión network premiered Here we area telenovela in which Reyes worked as a scriptwriter and co-director. With 80 episodes, the audiovisual addressed the attempt of a group of young people to form a theater company, winning the acceptance of viewers and generally positive reviews.
According to Reyes himself, the project was born from a personal experience he had in 1998, when he had put together an amateur theatre group.
“From there, I developed an idea together with Giordano Borroto, another member of the group, and we presented it at the Havana International Film Festival, where it was nominated. Later, we decided to take it to Cuban television,” he explained.
