Mexico City, Mexico.- The couple made up of Maykel González Medina and Lianet Lucía Medina were found dead yesterday along with their eight-year-old son. The victims were killed with machetes in the neighborhood next to the textile company EddioTeijeiro (known as Bellotex), in Matanzas
CubaNet was able to confirm the facts with two neighbors of the couple. One of these, on condition of anonymity, assured the outlet that the alleged murderer, 30, was a neighbor and friend of the family.
“He was military. He was from the FAR reserve, but actually he had a mechanical workshop that was where he killed Maykel”.
The body of Gonzalez Medina, owner of another mechanical workshop, was found in a grave next to the attacker’s workshop; while those of Lianet and the little one were found inside their own home.
“The reconstruction of the events suggests that he first killed Maykel and then went to his house for the money he had saved. There she found Lianet and the child, and murdered them too, ”says the neighbor.
According to the source, these events occurred last Wednesday, but the bodies were not found until yesterday. “Her mother was calling her for several days and since no one answered yesterday they came and broke down the door”
The neighbor also adds that the alleged murderer stayed in town buying beer and spending more money than usual, while wearing jewelry that apparently belonged to Maikel.
Lianet Lucía is survived by her eldest daughter, also a minor, who was not at home at the time of the events.
CubaNet could not confirm if the suspect remains at large or has already been captured. Until now, the official media have not published information about what happened in Matanzas.
