What happened to the case against several congressmen for the National Savings Fund? It's been a year and a half

The Investigative Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice continues in the preliminary stage of the investigation.

In the Supreme Court of Justice research against 19 congressmen who were linked to alleged acts of corruption for hiring people in the National Savings Fund (FNA), in exchange for supporting the Government’s social reforms.

The case began in June 2023when the investigation was opened against the congressmen among those who are Juan Pablo Gallo, Mauricio Gómez and Miguel Ángel Pintobut a year and a half later the process is still in a preliminary stage.

Sources of the process confirmed that, although enough time has passed so that the magistrates of the Investigative Chamber of the high court take new measures and decisions with respect to the congressmen, They continue to collect prior information to validate the identity of those investigated and involved.

The court will collect the evidence. However, the process will have to wait for the reporting magistrate orders the collection of testimonies or free versions of those involved so that the process can have significant progress.

For this case, the former president of the FNA Gilberto Rondón attended to testify before the Supreme Court in June of that same yearbut remained silent before the magistrates of the Investigative Chamber.

“At this moment, my status is that I am subject to a criminal trial and a disciplinary trial and as such, I have a universal and constitutional right, which is the right to remain silent. I did that today in Court and of course, respectfully, they recognized my right, Therefore, I have not spoken nor will I speak before the Prosecutor’s Office or anywhere because I have that right,” Rondón assured.

The former official defended his innocence while waiting for the court to decree new evidence in parallel with the process that the Prosecutor’s Office has open against the former director of the National Savings Fund.
