During the months of November and December of this year, the Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste) placed the transformer César Nicolás Penson Electrical Substationrepotentialized the Villa Mella Substation and positioned the 40 Megavolt-ampere (MVA) transformer in Boca Chica.
This was reported by Edeeste general manager, Andrés Portes.
“We are walking with firm steps towards service excellence and specific actions such as these show it,” the official declared in a press release.
Portes said that with the placement of the new T02 transformer in the César Nicolás Penson Substation, damaged in October 2022, in the Gascue sector of the capital, progress was made to return this energy terminal to its original condition and ensure its operational reliability.
He said that once the assembly of the aforementioned energy component was completed, the rigorous electromechanical tests and its subsequent commissioning continued rapidly.
Regarding the recent replacement in the Villa Mella Substation from the 40 MVA transformer, which had been overloaded, to another 50 MVA, the general manager of edeast reiterated that the result will be reflected in a notable improvement in service to customers in this area of Santo Domingo Norte and, above all, in the release of said substation from working at high risk.
He specified that this 40 MVA transformer was enabled to operate at the Boca Chica 138KV Substation, where a similar equipment failure occurred last September.
Portes added that after completing the replacement of the T0 transformer, “this power redistribution terminal now returns to its originality, restoring reliability and operational safety to the system in its area of incidence.”
He recalled that on September 27 of this year, when the automatic output of transformer T01 occurred and it was determined that it required major repair, the Mobile Substation was added from Guerra to the mentioned municipality. This had remained in operation until this last job to replace the affected component.
“We thank our customers for the behavior exhibited during each of these jobs. Rest assured that we do everything humanly possible to respond accordingly every time an event such as the ones we have cited occurs, “he said.
Andres Portes indicated that the work plan of the company he directs also includes the repowering of the Kilometer 24 substation on the Mella highwayan action that will be carried out during the first week of January 2023.
