If approved a bill who knows the National Congressthe Dominican Republic will cooperate with other States to exchange information, provide mutual assistance and initiate criminal proceedings when threats and incidents of cyber security.
The prerogative is contemplated in the draft bill on the management of the cyber security in the Dominican Republic, promoted by Senator faride rafuland is known in the Senate.
The piece establishes that the country will respond to requests for assistance from other States whose critical infrastructures were the object of malicious acts related to information and communication technology. Also the activities registered in the national territory against infrastructures of other States, always taking into account the sovereignty of those involved.
“The Dominican Republic will cooperate with other States to exchange information, provide mutual assistance, initiate criminal proceedings for the use of information and communication technologies for criminal or terrorist purposes, and apply other cooperation measures to deal with threats and incidents of cyber security”refers the initiative.
It also includes an operational unit that would function under the supervision of the National Center for cybersecuritydependency that would be assigned to the Presidency of the Republic, with legal personality and functional autonomy.
This is the National Cyber Incident Response Team (CSIRT-RD) whose purpose would be the identification, detection, protection, response and recovery of cyber incidents. cyber security generated in national critical infrastructures and in information technology assets, systems and services.
The initiative was approved in first reading and is heading towards its second sanction in the Senate. If approved, it will go to the Chamber of Deputies to complete a similar process.
