The National Institute for the Protection of Consumer Rights (Pro Consumer) began this Thursday the inspection operations to avoid misleading advertising to the detriment of the economic interests of consumers on the occasion of the celebration of the Mother’s day.
Its executive director, Eddy Alcántara, pointed out that in these operations the same inspection procedure and good commercial practices carried out last year will be used, both in the shops of greater flow on that date, as in retail establishments.
“As a result of the innovative procedures and mechanisms that we have implemented, by carrying out prior inspections and training for suppliers in high consumption seasons, we ensure that no business threatens the pockets of consumers by making use of this illegal practice as it is misleading advertising,” he said.
Alcántara urged consumers who understand that their rights have been scammed or circumvented with misleading advertising, to “do not hesitate to contact or go to the nearest office of Pro Consumer to file your complaint or claim, so that Pro Consumer Proceed to conduct local investigations.”
Finally, the head of the entity that defends consumer rights recalled that the use of misleading advertising was practically zero in 2021 due to “the effectiveness” of the previous inspection operations on Father’s Day, Black Friday or Black Friday, Christmas, Three Kings and Valentine’s Day festivities.
