Miguel Díaz, Business Manager of the Association of Real Estate Companies (ASEI) comments that one-bedroom apartments with common areas are being more valued by young owners who acquire their first home.
“Young people from Lima who seek to become independent prioritize buying over renting and look for functional flats close to their work or entertainment areas. That is why Miraflores and San Isidro are districts that are very attractive and that in the month of June they registered the highest number of units sold in the sector, 35.0% and 30.4% respectively”.
In that sense, he highlighted what young people between 25 and 34 years old prefer when buying an apartment:
- One bedroom flats: in San Isidro and Barranco, there is a greater offer in 1-bedroom homes. This is due to the fact that more young people are encouraged to acquire their first apartment.
- Well located apartments: one of the requirements is that it be close to easily accessible roads and shopping centers.
- Have balconies and/or social areas: The spaces that allow us to have moments of leisure and enjoy with family are increasingly valued when making the decision to buy an apartment.
- Bicycle parking areas: In recent years, bicycles have regained value as a means of transportation, so apartments and/or condominiums that have a space for bicycles are more attractive to buyers.
- Coworking spaces: As a result of teleworking, it is important to have spacious environments that allow us to carry out our tasks and stay close to our home; in addition to complying with the due distance.
