Energy, environment and education led the sectors benefited by the development projects executed in the border zone during 2025 by Non-Profit Associations (ASFL)which together received more than 188 million pesosaccording to the Bulletin MiFronteraRD of the last quarter of the year.
In relation to the number of projects, Dajabón led with nine initiativesfollowed by Bahoruco and Montecristi with six projects each, Flints with five, Independence with four, Elias Piña with three and in Santiago Rodríguez only two were implemented.
As for the investment in ASFL projects by province 2025, Elias Piña received 63.74 million of pesos, Dajabón 58.79 million, Bahoruco 19.25 million, Flints 15.58 million, Montecristi 13.74 million, Independencia 11.92 million and Santiago Rodríguez 5.00 million.
The sectors with the greatest investment
According to the document, the energy sector was the one who received the higher allocation of resources in the border zone during the 2025with a investment of 72.46 million. This was followed by the environmental sector, with 42.50 million, and education, with 24.90 million pesos.
Other sectors that also benefited were the care for the elderlywith 17.49 million pesos, and dwellingwith 14.90 million. While other sectors such as health and agriculture registered investments of 4.80 million and 3.86 million pesos.
While areas like sports, childhood, gender and disability they had a investment of 7.06 million.
water projects and sanitation in border communities
Among the notable projects is the intervention of Nature Power FoundationASFL dedicated to the provision of basic services in vulnerable communities. In the border zonethe organization has built four rural aqueducts in communities of Bahoruco, Elias Piña and Flintsbenefiting 602 families, equivalent to about 2,000 people.
In the community The Mercedesin the province Flintsthe project benefited 400 people through the rehabilitation of a 10,000-gallon tank and a well with a capacity of 25 gallons per minute, powered by solar pumping, with a investment of 6,106,573.80.
In the community The Lagoons, Elias Piñaa system of solar pumping, the construction of a 15,000-gallon storage tank and a 10,000-gallon distribution tank, benefiting 98 families. The project had an amount of 5,140,950.00 pesos.
In Guayajayuco, also in Elias Piñathe rehabilitation of a 26,000-gallon tank was carried out under a gravity aqueduct system, benefiting 230 families, with a investment of 1,764,145 pesos.
While in The Flasksmunicipality of Neiba, province Bahorucoa project is being developed that will benefit 174 families, currently in construction phasewith a investment mobilized of 4,006,642.92 pesos. This project includes a 20,000-gallon storage tank and a rural distribution system.
Water purification
Another relevant and notable project is the one executed by Fundefrowhich installed four purifying plants of water in three communities in the province Elias Piñawith a investment of 240,000 pesos. The plants are located in Macasía, The Lagoons and Guayajayuco, producing more than 63,000 gallons of purified water for the benefit of approximately 600 families.
The report highlights that before the end of the 2025 the installation of three additional purifierswith the intention of expanding coverage to more communities in the border area.
Entrepreneurship in Flints
In the field of economic development, the ASFL Caesar executes in the province Flints the project “Promotion of decent employment in it sustainable tourismpromoting formal working conditions with a focus on gender, inclusion and innovation”, financed by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (Aecid).
During 2025, the initiative trained 26 representatives of 13 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in areas such as business formalization, business management and finances.
In addition, a business formalization and registration process was carried out, ensuring that the selected initiatives comply with legal requirements and can access financing programs available.
Reforestation and environmental sustainability
In it environmental sector, Sierra Plan develops projects reforestation and sustainable management of natural resources in the municipality of Guayubín and the northwest region of the country.
The interventions are concentrated in the sub-basins of the Mao, Guayubín, Maguaca and Chacuey rivers, with the objective of reforesting some 39,400 tasks and guaranteeing the water sustainability for agricultural production.
Likewise, the entity formalized last September, a strategic alliance with the Center for Nature Ecological Education and Action (Cedae), aimed at strengthening the capacities of local families for the sustainable production of food in the sub-basins of the Mao, Guayubín, Maguaca and Chacuey.
Housing projects
