This Sunday, October 2, is Regional and Municipal Elections 2022 And, in case you do not have your identity card, unfortunately there is no longer a deadline for you to get a new one on time and you can pay. However, here we tell you what you can do to avoid the dreaded fine.
A total of 24,759,909 Peruvian voters have been called in a mandatory manner to vote for the next regional governors and mayors for the period 2023-2026. If this civic duty is not fulfilled, a fine ranging between S/23 and S/92 must be paid; while for table members the amount is also S / 230.
If your current DNI was lost or stolen, you must get a duplicate or renew your identity card, but the deadline to do so and be able to pick it up before these elections expired on September 21 in Lima and Callao. An alternative is that you can vote with an expired DNI, since the National Registry of Identity and Civil Status (Reniec) decided to validate the expired document only for the day of October 2. WHAT HAPPENS IF MY ID IS STOLEN OR LOST MY DNI ON ELECTION DAYS 2022?
Those people who lost their DNI or were victims of the theft of said document during the last week before the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections, which will be on October 2, must request a waiver or justification from the National Elections Jury (JNE).

If you could not comply as a polling station member, you can request a justification, or a waiver if you did not vote. The procedure is carried out before the National Elections Jury (JNE) the day after the election on October 2.
Requirements
- File a police report of loss or theft.
- Payment for processing fee: S/25.9 for failure to attend the installation of the polling station and S/25.9 for failure to vote.
- The payment for the processing fee is made at any Banco de la Nación agency at code 01465 or by virtual means through the portal https://pagalo.pe
Procedure
- As of Monday, October 3, you must manage the waiver or justification before the National Elections Jury (JNE) in order to avoid paying the fine for not paying.
- Virtual: enter the Virtual Dispensing System – SIDVID.
- Face-to-face: go to the Board of In-person Parties of the JNE, the Decentralized Offices or the Special Electoral Juries during electoral times.
IN WHAT CASES CAN I SUBMIT A JUSTIFICATION OR WAIVER?
It is valid in the following cases, but you must attach the documents that show the reason for your absence.
- Citizens traveling abroad for academic studies.
- Citizens who leave the country to receive care for health reasons abroad.
- Natural or man-made disasters.
- Electoral roll error.
- Defects in the updating, organization and execution of electoral activities attributable to the entities of the Electoral System.
- Death of a direct family member.
- Prevented from exercising the right to vote and installation, in cases caused by electoral incidents.
- Physical, mental, sensory or intellectual disability.
- Lactation / Women in the gestation period (Applies only to grant the justification).
- Theft or loss of DNI/DNIe.
- Health.
- Prison (national territory or abroad).
- Force Majeure.
WHAT IS THE PENALTY FOR NOT VOTING OR BEING A MEMBER OF THE TABLE?
The National Elections Jury (JNE) ordered the following electoral fines for the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections (ERM), in accordance with the Law No. 28859 and the classification of the districts carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).
Omitted Voters
- Omiso who lives in a non-poor district: S/92.00.
- Omiso who lives in a poor district: S/46.00.
- Omiso who lives in extreme poor district: S/23.00.
