Former Minister of the Interior Willy Huerta testified before the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations of Congress about his alleged participation in theThe failed coup attempted by the now former president Pedro Castillo.
The former head of the Mininter, began his statement by denying what he initially said, regarding the former Minister of the Environment, Roberto Sánchez. As Huerta indicated before the Prosecutor’s Office, he would have heard how Roberto Sánchez told Castillo the phrase “for the country” after the former president’s decision to impose the coup, but later denied it.

“I wanted to retire because an illegal act had been committed, I did not know that this was going to happen, I just wanted to leave the place,” was what the former minister was heard saying on constant occasions after questions from legislators.
On the other hand, he contradicted some of the statements that Betssy Chávez gave in her time in the same working group. For example, Betssy Chávez did not indicate that she entered the office of the former head of state, Pedro Castillo, accompanied by former premier Aníbal Torres.
It also contradicts the fact that the former premier would have coordinated and given orders to the TVPerú journalists who entered the day of the message to the Nation. Chávez assured the subcommittee that he only made them enter.
