What did Duque and Gates talk about at their meeting in Davos?

This Wednesday was the meeting between the founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, and the President of Colombia, Iván Duque, a space in which the world leader in technology highlighted Colombia’s leadership in the development of the agenda for environmental care and fight against the climate crisis.

This meeting was part of the final agenda of the working visit of the President Duque in Davos (Switzerland) and his participation in the World Economic Forum.

The Head of State spoke with Gates about the country’s positive results in technology and environmental protection issues. In addition, and on this third and last day of the working visit to Switzerland, President Duque met with the presidents of Israel, Isaac Herzog, and Rwanda, Paul Kagame.

With Herzog, President Duque Márquez discussed the progress and commitments made during the visit of the Colombian President to Israel, in November 2021, about entrepreneurship, innovation, trade, the environment and cybersecurity.

Meanwhile, President Duque expressed to the Rwandan president the Colombian interest in promoting bilateral ties and closer cooperation in trade, investment and the fight against the climate crisis.

In the meetings of the day, the Head of State held a meeting with Mathias Cormann, Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and they talked about the Colombian reactivation of the first quarter of this year, which was 8.5% and which is the best of this century.

They also discussed the lower multidimensional poverty achieved by Colombia and the low levels of labor informality, as certified by Dane.
