SANTO DOMINGO.-Based on the speech of the legislators, all the benches with congressional representation are willing to approve a law of domain extinction.
When deciding, however, mutual accusations, disqualifications, delaying tactics in committee meetings and the introduction of issues that could compromise the integrity of the initiative in the future prevail.
Those of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) accuse those of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) and vice versa, the same happens with those of the People’s Force (FP).
Yesterday, for example, the president of the bicameral commission that studies the initiative, Pedro Catrain, said that the PLD has a great fear of the proposal and has unleashed a discrediting campaign against it.
“The PLD spokesman has been making a circus when the function of Congress is to legislate. He is threatening businessmen with the figure of tax avoidance so that they withdraw their support for the law”, said Catrain.
Lorenzo responded later saying that those who fear him are the PRM, since they are the majority and can approve the initiative.
meeting today
Yesterday, from the Press area of the National Palace, an affirmation was distributed by the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, who said that the Domain Forfeiture Law must be approved. He said that the PRM legislators have been summoned today so that this bill is approved as soon as possible.
