Who appears in the photo and what position did they hold in 2001?
From left to right, the first to appear in the photograph is Carlos Slim, who in addition to being the president of Telefónica de México at that time, was part of the Citizen Advisory Council, a consultative body whose powers include issuing opinions on the general operation of the Governing Board or due to complaints from beneficiaries.
The next in the portrait is the current president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who from December 2000 to June 2005 served as head of government of the Federal District (now Mexico City). As the person in charge of the capital, López Obrador had to be present at all events that involved or were associated with actions in the entity, as is the case.
At that time, Vicente Fox Quesada was president of the country and Alfonso Durazo, who appears in the photograph apparently heading towards Obrador, was the private secretary of the presidency.
Finally, we can see Francisco Gil Díaz, Secretary of the Treasury and Public Credit from 2000 to 2006. It was during his management that this body issued the decree by which fiscal incentives and administrative facilities were granted for the rescue of the Historic Center of Mexico City.
Reconstruction of the Historic Center
In 2001, a Citizen Consultative Council was created, headed by the chronicler of Mexico City, Guillermo Tovar de Teresa; businessman Carlos Slim and journalist Jacobo Zabludovsky.
As a result, models of investment and restructuring of the urban infrastructure of the country’s capital were created.
