Climate conditions are changing in the world at a rapid pace. and Colombia is no exception. How will the climate behave and which regions will be the most affected in 2025?
According to Ideam, the climate in Colombia will be influenced by the possible arrival of the La Niña phenomenon, which is expected to last until February 2025.
This climatic phenomenon tends to increase precipitation, especially in the Caribbean and Andean regions of the country. They will be seen more frequently and the amount of precipitation.
– Caribbean Region: An increase in precipitation between 20% and 50% above climatological averages (1991-2020) is anticipated in much of this region.
– Andean Region: Antioquia, Caldas, and Risaralda will be the areas most affected by the increase in rain.
– Pacific Region: An increase in rainfall is estimated between 10% and 20%, although some areas such as northern Chocó could experience increases of up to 30%.
– Orinoquía: They predict increases in precipitation of 10% to 30%.
– Amazon: Increases in rainfall between 10% and 20% are projected, except in Guainía.

How will the temperatures continue?
The report made a differentiation between the months where Colombians will be able to perceive the most variations:
– January to March 2025: Minimum temperatures around 12 °C and maximum temperatures of up to 19 °C are anticipated. It is advisable to wear warm clothing due to possible drops in temperature.

– July 2025: Minimum temperatures are forecast around 11°C, while maximum temperatures could reach 18°C. Although the weather will be pleasant, it is suggested to be prepared for possible rain.
On the other hand, the report indicated that there may also be landslides and floods. The authorities have recommended populations to be attentive to alerts regarding possible climate-related emergencies.
