Alfredo Pacheco, president of the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic, reacted today to the recent statement issued by the embassy of the United States The one he said is out of context and exaggerated, since it does not encompass the reality of what is happening in the Dominican Republic.
“Anyone who expresses himself in matters that are inherent to the Dominican Republic should do so with adequate moderation, since the Dominican State is free and independent and everyone who lives in it, must do so legally, complying with the regulations that regulate the presence of foreign citizens», he expressed the President of the House of Representatives

Pacheco mentioned that the country has long denounced the undocumented population of Haitians, and that the only thing that is sought from the international community is rationality so that the problems that are happening in Haiti do not negatively affect the country.
He also said that “The Dominican Republic has been carrying its Haitian brothers for a long time, and they must make their lives on the side of the island that corresponds to them.”
It is recalled that the United States embassy, in a statement issued on Saturday, alerted the citizens of their country about the problems they could face in Dominican territory, if they are confused with Haitians.
According to the embassy statement, in recent months there have been reports of delays, detentions or increased interrogations at ports of entry, only because of his skin color.
Dominican government reaction
The Government remains firm in the decision to deport undocumented Haitians, despite the claims of the UN, an international organization that requires the authorities to stop the expulsion of the aforementioned foreigners in the midst of the referred situation.
