The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes (MICM) agreed to exchange information and statistics commercial activities, in order to facilitate legal trade and improve the country’s competitive conditions.
“I am convinced that this agreement will be an effective tool so that our Customs and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce can face the problems and challenges every day”, said the director of CustomsEduardo “Yayo” Sanz Lovaton.
Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, stressed that this inter-institutional agreement is in line with the recent decree of President Luis Abinader, which establishes the Cabinet for the Development of Exports, to promote public policies and strategies aimed at development, promotion and competitiveness of the export sector.
From its execution, these institutions will be sharing related data, in tabular form, so that they can be analyzed together, with a view to supporting and improving the design of public policies based on evidence, and will implement economic data dashboards linked to trade, industrial sector, free zones, special regimes and the export sector.
Likewise, they will collaborate in the programming and execution of innovative initiatives that favor economic development within the legality, entrepreneurship and strategic alliances that contribute to achieving greater competitiveness.
“Serve as a link for the supply of information related to the detection of illegal fuel trade by the Specialized Fuel Control Body (Ceccom)”, establishes one of the points of the agreement.
The institutions will designate a representative or technical liaison, whose responsibility will be to coordinate the execution of activities within the framework of the agreement.
