Weekend rains left one dead and five states affected

The Anzoátegui, Trujillo, Lara, Mérida, Táchira and Sucre states were affected by the rainfall this weekend, local authorities reported. The rains over the weekend affected towns in the states of Anzoátegui, Trujillo, Lara, Mérida, Táchira and Sucre, in the latter one death was registered, informed the governor of the Sucre entity, Gilberto Pinto.

During a balance on the rainfall, Pinto noted that the deceased was an eight-year-old boy. He explained that the minor was electrocuted when a wire detached from the electrical system and fell on him when he was bathing in the rain.

The regional president reported affectations in seven municipalities and failures in 25 electrical circuits, which teams from the National Electric Corporation (Corpoelec) already serve.

According to his report, there were incidents in Sucre, Valdez, Mariño, Cajigal, Ribero, Montes, Andrés Eloy Blanco, in the latter the damage was concentrated in the Rómulo Gallegos parish, while in Cumaná, the problems were focused on El Peñón, Caigüire, Industrial Zone and in La Llanada.

The regional chief reported that citizen security forces are deployed throughout the Sucre state, before the early start of the rainy season.

“All risk management and disaster administration bodies are called upon to monitor these waters, which will continue to grow at night.”

Regarding the Andrés Eloy Blanco municipality, it reported that there is damage to a house in the Río del Medio sector, in Río Cristalino there was damage to the bridge that connects Casanay with Caripito in the Monagas state, which they are monitoring because the river water is undermining the foundations of the structure on the Sucre side. In addition, there are effects in La Palencia, with the fall of a power line pole, before which there is a deployment of Civil Protection and local firefighters, he reported. Time.

Rains leave victims in Trujillo

The mayor of the Montecarmelo municipality, in Trujillo state, Wilmer Delgado, reported that some 20 families were affected as a result of the heavy rainfall. Rains in Anzoátegui
