In February, online purchases by Uruguayans abroad grew againafter a slight contraction registered at the beginning of the year.
According to data released this Tuesday by the National Customs Directorate, 31,930 packages were received, which represented an increase of 10.5% in the year-on-year comparison.
The total value of purchases in February was US$ 3.83 millionslightly above the US$ 3.5 million of the same month of 2021.
In January there were 35,063 parcels for a total value of US$ 3.8 million.
The regime of international postal parcels (purchases abroad through the Internet) that is in force allows each person of legal age to bring up to three shipments in the year for a maximum of US$ 200 each.and for up to 20 kilos each with exemption from payment of all taxes.
The Uruguayan Chamber of Couriers (CUC), wants the authorities to authorize an increase in the number of franchises per person to five annual parcels, as reported by El País last January.
