Weapon handling

Weapon handling

Course will be held on November 9

There are few places left for this training that will take place on the second Sunday of next month at the 8th Regiment Shooting Range in the city of Melo.

“It is aimed at those people who want to process the possession of weapons for the first time with the new news that through a meeting that was held at the Ministry of the Interior at the national level, it was coordinated that all Headquarters had to request this course from people who had an expired possession prior to 2020” reported Enrique Duarte.

“As Decree 345 of December 2020 changed, now people whose tenancy has expired when they go to renew it will be required to take the suitability course again” the Instructor warned.

People who find themselves in this situation must complete this training in order to renew the document.

It is also established in the Decree that possession must be renewed before its expiration because otherwise the person will be disqualified from having a weapon. It is advisable to renew it three months before the date established for the end of its validity.

“If people intend to renew to buy a weapon, they need possession again. If it has expired before 2020, with the change in regulations, it is necessary that they take the course again. From now on this is a condition” Duarte remarked.

COURSE DYNAMICS

The class has a theoretical component and a practical component. “We start with the current regulations, Law 19,247 and Decree 345/20, where we explain to the person who is going to be a weapons holder, that from that moment on they will have a new responsibility, that they have them under the conditions established by the Law” he emphasized.

“After reviewing the entire legal issue, we move on to a very important thing such as safety measures, emphasizing the three golden rules when handling weapons so that an accident never occurs.” he stated.

“We also do all the disassembly of the weapon for when the person needs to disassemble it to clean it. It is a basic disassembly called field disassembly for cleaning” said. “It is very necessary that the person know how to do this disarmament correctly and in safe conditions” he added.

Instruction is also given in relation to aiming, the firing cycle, alignment of sights with the corresponding pressure on the trigger so that the shot goes towards the target.

“In the practical part, we do a shooting test with a 22 caliber for people who have never shot, so that they feel more comfortable because it is a small caliber that makes little noise. In the end, a test with a 9 mm weapon that is passing” he pointed out. “It is the most important, so you must have a minimum of 60% correct to pass the course.” Enrique Duarte stressed.

“We have to ensure that the person not only learned the rule, not only acquired knowledge about the safety measures, which is the most important thing for us and for everyone, but also that when he handles a weapon or is going to fire an effective shot, that it goes where the person wants to direct the shot.” summarized the Shooting Instructor.

For November 9th there are two places left. Those interested can contact Duarte at No. 099 03 68 03 or on their Social Networks.

The course will be taught on Sunday, November 9 at the 8th Regiment Polygon starting at 9:00.
