From the historic sanctuary of the Pampa de la Quinua, in Ayacucho, President José Jerí reiterated that his Government “will never retreat from the common enemy that is crime.”
After participating in the raising of the national flag, the president emphasized that the country faces the challenge of consolidating itself as a nation without corruption, with equal opportunities, based on dialogue and firm against crime and insisted on his commitment to the decentralization and development of Ayacucho, a region that he described as a priority for his management.
“In this historic place where we sealed the independence of Peru and South America, my Government expresses its firm commitment to decentralization and the attention that our beloved Ayacucho region demands. Ayacucho is history, present and future, and Ayacucho is a priority for this Government and therefore there will be no reason or circumstance that will distance us from the primary objective of promoting its progress and development,” said the president.
Jerí stressed that his Government will not deviate from the objective of promoting the progress of Ayacucho, considering it an essential part of the history, present and future of the country.
Accompanied by the Ministers of the Interior, Vicente Tiburcio, and of Defense, the Head of State maintained that the Executive will continue to tour the regions to learn first-hand about the needs of each district and respond to their main demands. Ayacucho is the seventh region visited by the president, who has already been to Huánuco, Junín, La Libertad, Cajamarca, Tacna and Tumbes.
Jerí stressed that, beyond the transitory nature of his administration, there is a national responsibility to govern with closeness and a sense of citizenship. In this framework, he highlighted the raising of the flag as a message of the presence of the State and commitment to the construction of citizenship and homeland.
THEY REJECT HIS PRESENCE
The president arrived in this region amid strict police security, after announcing a mobilization against him called by the Ayacucho People’s Defense Front (Fredepa).
The front rejects the presence of the president whom it accuses of being complicit in covering up former president Dina Boluarte for the deaths registered in that region during the protests against that government that began in December 2022.
Fredepa also questioned whether Jerí’s visit to Ayacucho is being used politically by the regional governor, Wilfredo Oscorima, criticized for his lack of management of the unfinished sports works for the last Bolivarian Games held in that region. Despite citizen rejection, Boluarte’s former ally still shined alongside Jerí in this official activity in the Pampa de la Quina.
