The president of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), Daniel Funes de Rioja, said that during the meeting with the Secretary of Production, José Ignacio de Mendiguren, they updated the industry’s production agenda to “transform reactivation into growth.”
“We held a meeting to update the production schedule,” Funes de Rioja commented on AM750 radio, about yesterday’s meeting with De Mendiguren.
About, pointed out that the Secretary of Production “knows the industry perfectly”and that from the UIA “we had medium and long-term issues that have to do with the voice of the industrialists about where we should go if we want to transform reactivation into growth.”
In addition, he indicated that they discussed “issues of the situation, inflation, access to credit, logistical problems, and access to inputs, both imported and local, because many defensive stock attitudes have been adopted during July.”
The president of the UIA also referred to the appointment of Sergio Massa as head of the Economy portfolio, and argued that it is not about how they see him, but “how we see the Government articulating through a Ministry of Economy” .
“We believe that the country’s clear need was to have greater centralization of the direction of economic policy and also set objectives, public spending saving objectives, better administration of State resources, taking into account the scarcity data,” he argued.
On the other hand, Funes de Rioja referred to the advance payment of profits for large companies and said that “faced with this, our position is one of concern.”
“Obviously the laws are there to be complied with, now our reaction to this is that we do not share this decision,” he specified, and explained that he considers that “a tax advance simply means affecting the working capital of companies and with it the investment and employment possibilities, by establishing additional tax obligations”.
