The political financing law put the PLRA in the eye of the storm. Only 53% of their candidates declared about money that they will use in the internal ones. In contrast, the ANR reached 98% compliance, exposing the weakness of the main opposition party.
Among the political parties that complied with the political financing law, the PLRA got all the attention, being one of the least adjusted to its provisions.
In the main opposition nucleation, only 53% of the candidates who will fight for positions in the internal elections next Sunday, complied with the law that requires declaring the origin and use of money in the political campaign.
In counterpart, in the ANR, 98% of the candidates complied with the legislation in question, which points to eliminate the use of dirty money in political campaigns.

The blue rejection of the political financing law was interpreted by the other opposition parties, and even within the PLRA, as an embarrassment that exposes not only the double discourse of the leadership, but also the willingness to violate a law that goes against the laundering of dirty money in political campaigns.
Gustavo Bernalhead of the PLRA’s Independent Electoral Tribunal, described it as regrettable that his party’s leadership has not understood the crucial importance of complying with the lawto start campaigns to eradicate the use of dirty money to support party nucleations.
“Practically the candidates have not complied with certain legal commitments. We had in the last elections and it happened again with the same ones, many did not charge the expenses that had to be. We are going to see how we can resolve this with the Court of Conduct,” said Bernal, when asked about the issue.
He indicated that according to the legislation, lThe penalty for those who do not comply with the political financing law is of a pecuniary nature, that is, a fine. The amount of this is located around 25 million guaraníes.
Regarding compliance with the law, the National Concertation for a New Paraguay has 93 percent. Of 1,130 candidates, 1,052 applicants for public office met.
Patria Querida totaled 92 percent effectiveness. It presented 670 candidates and 615 fulfilled.
