President Gabriel Boric held a telematic meeting with the Ukrainian president Volodimir Zelensky, to address the course of the war with Russia, at a time when Asian leaders are visiting the affected area in Eastern Europe, and after justice ministers from more than 40 countries announced that they will promote the investigations of the International Criminal Court (ICC) into war crimes in Ukraine.
“I had a call with Chilean President Gabriel Boric. I appreciated the cooperation in international forums. We discussed further consolidation of support from Latin America. We praised the ICC decision and mentioned the creation of a Special Court. We also discussed our #PeaceFormula “Zelenski said, via Twitter.
For his part, President Boric said: “Today we met again with the President of Ukraine. We talked about the course of the war, the suffering of a people and the decision of the ICC, in addition to the support that we will continue to provide in all spaces multilateral agreements to achieve the necessary peace”.
It is worth mentioning that the ICC issued an order on Friday against Putin, for the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia, and also against Maria Lvova-Belova, Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Office of the President of Russia, who faces the same accusation. .
Zelensky says he has no details on possible talk with Xi Jinping
Zelensky stated that his government has not received confirmation or obtained details about the conversation with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping scheduled for after the latter’s trip to Moscow.
“Regarding a meeting or conversation with China, we have received some signals, but there has been no confirmation. There is nothing specific yet,” Zelensky said in a joint appearance with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who visited him in Kiev on Thursday.
Xi is in Moscow today to address, among other issues, the Chinese peace proposal with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a meeting after which a communication with the Ukrainian president is scheduled.
In a post on his Telegram channel, Zelensky called Kishida – the first Japanese minister to travel to a conflict zone since World War II – a “powerful defender of international order and an old friend of Ukraine”.
He added that Kishida has traveled to Ukraine at a time when it is important to strengthen global leadership in “protecting the purpose and principles of the United Nations Charter and international security in general.”
The Japanese prime minister arrived in Kiev this morning and from there went to the town of Bucha, north of the capital, known for the massacre of civilians allegedly carried out there during the withdrawal of Russian troops.
In addition, he paid tribute to the victims of the conflict before meeting with Zelensky.
Kishida will leave Ukraine that night and tomorrow he is scheduled to meet Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Warsaw before returning to Japan.
