We take him at his word. And we hope that, when the conditions are right, we can be doing these high-level dialogues for collaboration and coordination.President Claudia Sheinbaum stated yesterday, in response to the proposal of Marco Rubio, nominated for Secretary of State of the United States, on a close association with Mexico to face common conflicts.

Sheinbaum Pardo pointed out that this has been his government’s proposal to the next US president, Donald Trump, to address problems of migration, security, drug trafficking: coordination at the highest level respecting sovereignty.

There is much we can do, and will continue to do, in close partnership with our allies in MexicoRubio said Wednesday in the Senate, at the hearing for his confirmation in office.

For her part, the president said that dialogue is necessary to reduce the incidence of crime in the country, prevent the transfer of weapons from the United States to Mexico and contribute to reducing the US fentanyl crisis.

During his conference he highlighted the relevance of Rubio’s recognition of the complexity of considering drug trafficking organizations as terrorist groups. “He also says: ‘it has its complications, due to the characteristics of how they operate’… declaring them a terrorist group has many implications.”

In response to a question about the production of fentanyl in national territory, the president explained that many of the precursors for the manufacture of this synthetic drug come from abroad. He added that if fentanyl pills have been seized it is because they are intended to be sold in Mexico or taken to the United States.

In relation to Ishmael’s hearing May Zambada was asked if his government would no longer demand information from Washington about the capo’s detention.

–No, that continues. And when President Trump arrives, we will also ask him for it because it is something that they have to clarify. The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic itself has its investigations and also has its part in acting, but this information is essential to be given in full: What was the participation of the agencies? Which agencies? How is it that did it happen? It is essential to know all this. Furthermore, why in this case was complete information not provided by President Biden’s government?
