The president of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF), Mónica Soto, said yesterday that during the 2023-2024 federal electoral process, that highest authority resolved without fear of criticism, exhibitions, external pressures, even direct and indirect threats, personal, institutional and family, judge freely and in accordance with the law
.
He stressed that the TEPJF issues sentences from a strictly jurisdictional perspective, leaving aside any political, economic or cultural orientation
.
The last issue resolved by the court was the integration of the Congress of the Union, which confirms the qualified majority of Morena and allies in the Chamber of Deputies.
We will put an end to and give finality to the results of the vote issued on June 2, where 60 million 116 thousand 184 Mexicans freely expressed our will.
said Soto, at the beginning of the plenary session of the upper chamber.
He pointed out that after the resolutions of the National Electoral Institute related to Congress, the court received “hundreds of emails, amicus curiae (citizen expressions) and a large number of challenges that exceed the 8 thousand admitted for processing.”
He said that everyone was heard and the judges acted with the conviction that their main job is guaranteeing access to justice and political-electoral rights for citizens. Our commitment is to Mexico and its Constitution
.
In front of the four members of the upper chamber and a packed auditorium, mainly with people from the Judicial Electoral School, he added that at the polls, Mexican society expressed its opinion and determined what it wanted for the next six years.
The court is obliged to take into account the opinion of the majority, in accordance with the established rules, he added.
The judges’ actions were, as they have been for the past 28 years, ones of public responsibility, professionalism and adherence to principles, he said.
