He is awaiting facial surgery after being shot four times.
News Bogotá.
Following the tragic incident that occurred in a motel in the Kennedy neighborhood, southwest of Bogotá, when a police patrolman, upon finding his ex-partner with another man, shot at them and subsequently took his own life.
In the early hours of Monday, September 9, the officer identified as John Camargo, broke into a room at the Las Vegas motel.
According to available information, Camargo found his ex-partner, Paola Camargo, in an intimate situation with a man named Fernando.
In an act of violence, the patrolman shot at both of them, resulting in the death of Camargo who then committed suicide with his firearm.
Paola Camargo: We broke up because of her aggressive behavior
Paola Camargo, who is hospitalized at Kennedy Hospital, recounted the details of the attack.
The woman, who was shot four times: three times in the head and one in the shoulder, described the anguish of the moment: “I felt the shots in my face. There were three hits in my face, one in the arm, another grazed my partner, Fernando. I said: ‘OK, he killed me, he definitely killed me.'”
Camargo revealed that her relationship with the patrolman ended in December 2023 due to his aggressive behavior.
The woman shared that the officer had physically assaulted her on several occasions, including one incident recorded by security cameras at her business, a spa.
“What I failed to do was report it”
Paola said she did not report the episodes of violence in time due to fear and lack of support.
“He had attacked me once in December. My mother came in, there I have the cameras, where he grabbed me very hard by the hair and he was in uniform,” she said. The lack of reporting the incident, according to Paola, could have contributed to avoiding the attack at the motel.
The woman also questioned how the patrolman was able to know her location and the presence of her family there.
“I don’t understand how that happened. When he shot himself, the mother ran out,” Paola said.
Paola’s new partner, Fernando, was shot in the shoulder and was discharged the same day.
Paola, for her part, is awaiting facial surgery and is out of danger.
